On holiday at Gone Fishin- visit Nerac in the Lot et Garonne.
Nerac is a pretty little town which lies on the Baise River and has several fine buildings.
Of importance is the chateau of Henry the IV.
Although there is only a part of the chateau left, it is a very impressive wing of the castle with an outward curving wall and an arcaded balcony with decorative columns running along the first floor.
It now houses a museum of the region. From the quays on either bank of the Baise narrow winding streets often bordered by old houses ascend. The promenade of La Garronne stretches for more than a mile along the Baise. A market is held there every Saturday morning.
Getting there -
Follow the D666 to Aiguillon but bear left before entering the town and take the N113 towards Agen. At Port Ste-Marie turn left and take the D930 across the flyover and follow this road through Lavardac and into Nerac.
